The Moments That Mattered, Powered by Spark Kindness and Our Community: Fall 2025 – Spring 2026 Events Recap
From Kindness Week to Spark Fest: a look back at the events, community partnerships, and belonging initiatives that brought MetroWest together this year.

Dear Spark Community,
In a time of growing division, kindness, belonging, and connection matter more than ever. Across Massachusetts, we've seen a troubling rise in racism, antisemitism, and hate. Spark Kindness is meeting this moment with free events and resources that help families, schools, and communities build belonging and prevent hate before it takes root.
This past year, we expanded inclusion programming and introduced new work on mental health and resilience, including the launch of mwantibullying.org — a free resource hub for our community. We were also honored as a national finalist for the Aspen Institute's 2026 Trust in Summit Award, as well as being chosen as a 2025-2026 Hometown Charity recipient for the Subaru Share the Love® Event with MetroWest Subaru.
We are excited to move forward into this new season with you all - stay tuned as upcoming Fall 2026 events will be announced later this summer!

A Look Back at the Highlights
September 2025: Navigating Technology and Healthy Screen Use
The year opened with a free film screening of Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age – Elementary School Edition, exploring how technology impacts young children and how families and schools can promote healthy screen habits. A panel of local school leaders answered questions and shared practical tools for supporting kids in today's digital world.
Held in partnership with the statewide Massachusetts Good Neighbor Day initiative, the Cocoa & Connection pop-up at the Natick Farmer's Market invited community members to get to know one another — a fitting start to a season built around belonging.
October 2025: Supporting Families and Youth Mental Health
Spark's Resilient Community Series welcomed child psychiatrist and author Dr. Christine Crawford of NAMI for You Are Not Alone: Navigating Your Child's Mental Health, offering caregivers practical, compassionate guidance.
The newly launched Caught Being Kind initiative started in mid October, inviting everyone to share moments of kindness—big or small—to inspire others. Acts of kindness were posted on Spark's Virtual Kindness Wall and special postcards were either mailed or picked up at local businesses to celebration the recognitions.
November 2025: The 8th Annual Kindness Week
Kindness Week ran November 8–15 with a packed schedule of programming across MetroWest featuring:
- Guacs & Rocks: a Kindness Week prep party, complete with snacks, friends, and postcard-writing for the Caught Being Kind campaign
- Connect & Serve: Open Door Meal at the Natick Elks Club, serving a free community dinner to neighbors
- Raising Caring, Resilient and Values-Guided Children (in an Age of Anxiety) featuring Harvard's Dr. Richard Weissbourd of the Making Caring Common Project
Community partners pitched in throughout the week too, including a non-perishables food drive with DanceFit Studio benefiting the Natick Service Council and A Place To Turn.
December 2025: 3rd Annual Gratitude Event
Neighbors of all ages gathered for SPARKing Gratitude and Interconnection, a free intergenerational evening filled with food, music, and hands-on activities celebrating gratitude and connection. The gathering brought neighbors together to reflect on the kindness and warmth that make the Spark Kindness community shine.
January 2026: Honoring Dr. King's Legacy
Spark helped lead Natick's 21st Annual MLK Community Celebration at Natick High School. The morning began with a Community Connection Event, followed by a program featuring keynote speaker Audi Lynch, performances from the Natick High School West Street Jazz Combo and Walnut Hill Jazz Ensemble, a reading of The ABCs of Black History, and the community's "Fill the Van" service drive benefiting the Natick Service Council and A Place To Turn.
February 2026: Calling In, Not Out
Spark hosted a virtual fireside chat in partnership with the MetroWest Anti-Bullying Coalition and Professor Loretta Ross on the strategic practice of "Calling In” as a way to address harm and conflict with courage, care, and connection rather than shame or division.
March 2026: Building Resilient Communities
Along with Natick 180, Spark held an interactive family event, Navigating Technology and Tween/Teen Well-Being, helping families build healthier, more balanced tech habits together using research-backed tools with expert Dr. Jill Walsh of Boston University.
In collaboration with the MetroWest Anti-Bullying Coalition, Freedom Team founder jamele adams introduced a proactive approach that helps communities respond to harm and division through support, dialogue, and reconciliation in Building Freedom Teams: How Communities Are Turning Bias and Division Into Belonging.
April 2026: From Conflict to Connection
As Boston Marathon season arrived, Spark rallied the community to create inspirational messages at a Poster Making Party at Paper Fiesta in Natick, cheering on the marathon runners.
Spark welcomed pediatric psychologist Dr. Ann-Louise Lockhart for Love The Tween/Teen You Have, a virtual session offering parents and caregivers practical tools for transforming conflict into genuine connection with their tweens and teens. Local families also gathered for a Live Watch Party at Kennedy Middle School in Natick to view the presentation together.
Spark Kindness and the MetroWest Anti-Bullying Coalition partnered with the Framingham Family Resource Center for "The Truth About Bullying," a free webinar equipping parents and caregivers with practical strategies to understand, prevent, and respond to bullying with compassion and accountability. Community members also joined Quabbin Mediation's interactive Active Bystander Training to build real-world skills for recognizing harmful situations and speaking up with courage, care, and respect.
May 2026: Mental Health Awareness and Anti-Bullying Advocacy
May opened with a full slate of Mental Health Awareness Month events and resources connecting neighbors to local programming and support around mental health in Natick and MetroWest.
On May 21, more than 100 educators, school leaders, and community partners gathered at The Verve in Natick for the 3rd Annual MetroWest Anti-Bullying Coalition Forum. The forum highlighted growing demand for Active Bystander Training and Restorative Justice sessions.
June 2026: A Summer of Celebration
June brought a joyful line-up of community events including Spark Fest, a free celebration with activities, crafts, music, and refreshments. Spark also participated in two events led by the Natick Center Cultural District, including Natick's Juneteenth Celebration and Natick Nights: Pride. Both events offered great opportunities to connect with neighbors and share Spark Kindness's resources.
