"I began to volunteer because I like the programming and felt drawn to the cause, but I've stayed and become more involved because of the amazing SPARK community. Rarely, do you find such a team of supportive, talented, engaged individuals who share values about inclusion, empowerment, and actively seeking ways to help others. I feel so lucky to have found SPARK Kindness!”

YOU can engage with Spark Kindness by sharing your time, energy, and skills! Spark Kindness is for the community and by the community. Check out all the different ways to become involved below.

Become a Spark ambassador!

Help market Spark Kindness and our free programs, and connect with and welcome others in the community. This is a HUGE way to help Spark that’s as easy as having a conversation, forwarding an email, or sharing a social media post.

Serve on a Spark committee!

From our programming committee (that helps identify our educational programming speakers/content and develop ideas for belonging programs) to the connector’s circle (that helps with fund development for the organization) Spark’s standing committees meet regularly (monthly-quarterly). Whether you are interested in planning our programming, connecting with community partners, raising funds to support Spark, marketing our events, or/and integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion work throughout the organization. Serving on a Spark committee is a great way to get to know the organization, meet people with similar interests and areas of expertise, and influence the content and scope of programming we bring to the community.

Help plan and implement Kindness Week!

Team up with volunteers who support opportunities for connection in our community. The Kindness Week Implementation Committee (KWIC) helps plan and run Spark’s annual Kindness Week!

Help at events!

If you are looking for ways to get engaged occasionally, event support might be the right place for you: greeting and working at our info table, or helping with set-up and clean-up, and other logistical needs. It’s a win-win; you can help Spark and benefit from our programming at the same time!

Complete tasks!

Spark needs support with all sorts of “one-off” tasks that can be done at home! Rock painting, organizing mailings, writing thank you notes to donors, etc.! All sorts of tasks can be done by those who want to be involved on their own schedule!

Share your specific expertise as an advisor or consultant!

Perhaps you are a grant writer, data manager, web developer, childcare provider, videographer, marketer, mental health provider, or educator! Do you have professional or personal insight to share with Spark? Join our team as an advisor or consultant!

I've definitely made connections I wouldn't have otherwise made because of Spark. It seems like every time I participate in an activity, I meet or am introduced to someone new. Always thoughtful people who (like me) are interested in making the world a better place, and who reinforce my sense of belonging in the community.
